Lost never referred to geography in any way. When you get yourself lost in the mall it is because of your head mainly, not due to some evil architectural scheme of the building. If you have your head in the proper place you always find your way.
But what if you lose yourself in your thoughts, feelings, desires? You don't know where home is any more, you don't quite know who you want to be with and you just keep losing and losing- everything from your glasses to your loved ones.
Lost is a state of mind. Lost is a state of heart.
